Benimaru Nikaido

First debuting as an original King of Fighters character in ’94’s Japan Team, along with his distinct hairstyle, Benimaru “The Shooting Star” Nikaido is known to be one of the most flamboyant characters in the KOF Universe. His lightning powers will make him a formidable opponent against any rival!

Robert Garcia

A classic Art of Fighting Team member, this memorable latin lover of powerful kicks returns to KOF once again! A suave practitioner of Kyokugen-ryu Karate (and Osaka-dialect, hehe), his lavish style is sure to attract many players.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Coming to PS4

Grab your gym shorts and hang onto your headbands! Our hard-hitting sports brawler Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is coming to PlayStation 4!

Stikbold is a quirky, over-the-top action sports game described best as a mix of dodgeball and a fighting game. Make use of everything from dodgeballs to jellyfish in order to eliminate your competitors as you duke it out against friends and family on a variety of unlikely courts.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure on PS4

Or, team up with your best friend, favorite relative, or even the A.I., and venture out on an exciting co-op adventure in the charming story campaign. Fight your way through hippies, whales, skeletons, and more as you set out on a selfless rescue mission to save the rival team and win back the championship trophy!

The original concept for the game came about during Nordic Game Jam. We were five eager game design students from IT-University in Copenhagen and we joined forces around the strange experiment that eventually became Stikbold!.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure on PS4Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure on PS4

Stikbold! received the “most fun” award and came in 3rd overall. This encouraged us to continue work on the game, with the goal of turning it into a full-blown console release. To pursue our dreams we formed a company and began a long and exciting journey!

Stikbold is actually the name of a Scandinavian folk game often played in schoolyards and at playgrounds during recess or Physical Education. Like most folk games, Stikbold has a ton of variations and abbreviations, but is always a type of tag played by chugging balls after each other.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a very loose interpretation of its folk game counterpart. Mainly we have focused on cultivating the foundations of folk/playground games, which are typically very playful, festive, and inclusive by nature. In this spirit, we try to give players increased agency and responsibility over the action and outcome of the matches to make the game feel more personal.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure on PS4

For instance, players may take control of various hazardous events after elimination from the round. Apart from giving eliminated players something to do between rounds, this is an encouragement for them to intervene with the balance of the action. Whether players opt to chase revenge on their nemesis or target the leading player, this influence often leads to wonderfully personal player interactions.

Making the action personal is an attempt to play into the social dynamics of couch multiplayer — a feeling we hope is coming through when you’re playing the game.

The Sound Four Join Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 on PS4

Hello everyone, my name is Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of CyberConnect2 and I am beyond excited to say that Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be released very soon on PS4! February 9th, to be exact.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 on PS4

We made a really exciting announcement for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 today that I wanted to share with our fans on PlayStation.Blog. About an hour ago we officially announced the Sound Four DLC pack, which will bring the long awaited Sound Four Ninja to the Ultimate Ninja Storm universe as playable characters.

I know that these characters have been highly requested for a long time and we are excited to finally bring them to our fans. We have been hard at work to make sure that The Sound Four are very unique to play as. The team has been pouring over countless manga issues and anime episodes to create the best versions of The Sound Four possible! Please look forward to The Sound Four DLC pack in the coming months.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 on PS4

The team here at CyberConnect2 has worked closely with Bandai Namco for many years now creating great Naruto games for fans around the world. However Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be a turning point for us and we knew we had to make this game go beyond fan expectations of what an Ultimate Ninja Storm game could be.

First off the bat is the roster. Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has the largest roster of characters we’ve put into a Naruto game. If you have a favorite Naruto character, chances are he or she will be playable! The development team has been hard at work creating cool and interesting concepts with a lot of the characters. These range from characters “Awakening” into different forms with all-new attacks and completely different playstyles, to new combo attacks, hidden techniques, and Combination Secret Techniques that require players to use specific characters to unleash amazing attacks. I was even surprised when I saw the team’s proposal regarding the new character line-up.

One of the biggest changes to the gameplay is the dynamic between main team leader character and sub-characters. In previous games your team of three characters consisted of the main party leader and two sub-characters that players could summon for assist moves during the battle. Now players can swap between all three characters during the battle to be used as the team leader bringing with it a host of new strategies for team formations and battle tactics. It’s an incredibly useful tool to help hone and improve your skills.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 on PS4Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 on PS4

So far I’ve been chatting about characters and battles but I’d be crazy not to mention the superstar of the game, Story Mode. We take you all the way through the 4th Great Shinobi War to the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke. I may be a bit biased, but when all the pieces come together; atmosphere, animation, art, special effects, gameplay, and music, I feel like it’s a work of art. The final battle is so amazing it even made me cry.

Everyone here at CyberConnect2 is ecstatic to have Naruto fans around the world get their hands on Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. Everyone on the team has a strong connection to the Naruto franchise and it has been our honor to have long time fans and people who may have never seen an episode of the anime come together and experience Naruto in a totally unique and interactive way for all these years!

Hands-on with Far Cry Primal on PS4

I’ve only played it for a couple of hours, but Primal is shaping up to be one of my favorite entries in the Far Cry series. In our new episode of PlayStation Underground, PlayStation Powerhouse Ryan Clements and I go spears-on with Ubisoft Montreal’s bold new open-world epic.

By now, you surely know the Far Cry formula. Set adrift in an exotic land, you must hunt wildlife, scavenge for supplies, and reclaim enemy territory in a desperate quest for survival. But Far Cry Primal’s prehistoric predisposition makes it a vastly different beast from its predecessors.

Set 12,000 years ago in an overgrown Central Europe populated by dire wolves (!), humongous wooly rhinos (!!), and towering mammoths (!!!), Primal represents the series’ biggest creative departure since the well-loved Blood Dragon. Ubisoft Montreal definitely deserves credit for trying something different here.

You play as Takkar, a hunter stranded in the land of Oros following a mammoth hunt. Rather than fire RPGs and glide around on wingsuits, you’ll hurl spears and train the local wildlife to fight alongside you. You can still collect plant and animal items to upgrade your weapons, but also new resources like fat that you can use to set your weapons ablaze.

Far Cry Primal on PS4Far Cry Primal on PS4

You’ll recognize plenty of side missions from prior Far Cry titles, but the prehistoric setting adds juicy new gameplay wrinkles. Dire Wolves bothering you at night? Try setting a bush ablaze to scare them off. Enemy tribe hunkered down near a key mission objective? Send your spirit owl in to mark their locations from above.

Seriously, you have a spirit owl. And it’s awesome, like the Stone Age answer to a UAV.

Though you’ll want to get real handy with your bow and arrow, Far Cry Primal also puts a large emphasis on training animal sidekicks. With enough practice and the right bait it’s possible to coax sabertooth cats, cave bears, and other fearsome critters onto your side — each with their own strengths, weaknesses and roles both in and out of combat.

Far Cry Primal on PS4

The game hits PS4 on February 23rd. I’ll be playing. Will you?

Underwater Adventure Song of the Deep Coming to PS4 This Summer

I’d like to invite you on a journey.

It’s a journey of courage and discovery in a haunting, lonely world.

As a child there were a few games that changed my life. Their stories changed how I thought about the world and how I thought about myself. Their journeys are ones that I still remember to this day.

Song of the Deep on PS4

What I love most about games as a medium is that they can take you to a world you’ve never seen and let you discover it on your own. At Insomniac, inventing new worlds is probably the best part of our job. You might have been inside one of them before. Maybe it was a magical world of dragons, or a fantastic science fiction galaxy. Or maybe it was crazy city where the apocalypse became your playground.

We’ve been hard at work on a new world. This one is built on a fantasy that I think we all share. The fantasy of the terrors and wonder that might lie in the depths of the sea. The endless possibilities that could be just outside our view, and the still undiscovered nightmares that might lurk in the deep.

It’s a world where everything is interactive in surprising ways. Where every new area has its own secrets and mysteries for you to discover.

Song of the Deep on PS4Song of the Deep on PS4

The story is about love and heartbreak. It’s about going on a seemingly impossible journey to try to help someone you love.

It’s the journey of a girl named Merryn in a game we call Song of the Deep.

In this game you’ll explore a huge undersea world, both free-diving and in a submarine. It’s a metroidvania style of progression where you are constantly getting new abilities and figuring out ways to upgrade them as you take on the seemingly impossible obstacles that stand in your way. It’s a challenging journey, designed to test your mind and your reflexes in equal amounts.

Song of the Deep on PS4

Making the game has been a labor of love for our team, and we hope it will be a journey that you too will love and remember.

Song of the Deep will launch this summer on PS4. You can check here for updates, or the Insomniac Games website and our social channels.

We Are Doomed Launches February 9th on PS Vita

We Are Doomed is a twin-stick shooter where you zap polygon baddies with an absurdly overpowered laserbeam. It’s pure arcade action: no cutscenes, no storyline, no lengthy tutorials. It’s a perfect fit for PS Vita, and you’ll be able to get your hands on it soon: February 9th, 2016.

It also supports cross buy, so if you’ve already enjoyed We Are Doomed on PS4 you’ll get to play it on-the-go absolutely free.

We Are Doomed on PS Vita

One of the great joys I’ve had is checking out the incredible scores that the PlayStation community have achieved on PS4. So for the PS Vita version, I decided to put together a tips guide. Maybe it’ll help you make it to the top?

Collect Trinkets, Then Superbeam!

Collecting Trinkets (the purple cubes and diamonds) does two things: increments your score multiplier, and fills the Superbeam meter.

The basic strategy is to fill the meter, wait for a screen full of baddies, and then trigger the Superbeam to wipe them all out (at 2x the points, no less).

But here’s the catch: once you fill the meter, you can’t bank any more Superbeams. So the longer you hold off finding the perfect moment to use it, the less potential you have for filling up the meter again. Like everything in life, finding the right balance is essential.

Positioning is Key

Playing fast and aggressive is important, but so is staying alive! Always be aware of your position relative to the enemies. The enemies are designed to swarm the player, so watch out!

Learning the enemy tactics will help you better position yourself and prioritize targets. A few specific tips:

  • Asteroids generally can’t be destroyed, but if you’re in a bind, firing the Superbeam will do the trick.
  • Blasters (the yellow projectile-firing enemies) are aggressive but largely stationary. As long as you keep track of where they all are, you can delay taking them out and maybe collect a nice looking Trinket instead.
  • Tadpoles seem harmless, but they dash quickly and multiply in number even faster. Even when it looks safe, keep your distance!

We Are Doomed on PS VitaWe Are Doomed on PS Vita

Practice!

Above all, We Are Doomed is a skill based game. There is no levelling and no upgrades, just your skills improving over time. If you want to get better, you need to get better! And that takes practice. So it’s a good thing you’ll have your PS Vita on you all the time, eh?

We Are Doomed is coming to PS Vita on February 9th, 2016. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope to see even more fantastic scores on the leaderboards soon.

PS: If you’re already a We Are Doomed fan (thx! <3) and want tips on something more specific, ask away in the comments and I’ll try to answer as many as I can!
