Persona 4: Dancing All Night Out Today on PS Vita

Put your dancing shoes on, cause it’s time to boogie!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night comes out today! Rejoin the cast of Persona 4 in their latest adventure on the PlayStation Vita!

Speaking of the cast, did you know that the developers took into account each character’s personality when figuring out their dance styles? For example, Kanji’s explosive dance style fits his brash personality. He dances, but you may also notice that he also incorporates some powerful punches into his routine. Now that’s my kind of dancing!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

On the other hand, when you have a character like Yukiko you think class and elegance, right? Of course, her dance moves would be based on something as graceful as ballet.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

And look at that costume! Mix and match your little heart out, but we’ll talk more about costumes later when we reach the DLC portion of this blog…

Now that we’ve talked a bit about the characters, let me fill you in on the gameplay.

Yes, this is a rhythm game, and no, it’s not an RPG, but don’t let that get to you. You still get fully-voiced, canon story and amazing music! No one can argue the power of the catchy music in Persona. I bet you can’t get through the game without getting at least one song stuck in your head.

This game can treat your Persona-music-itis! Got “Your Affection” stuck in your head? Tap to the beat and play the song over and over until it’s out of your head. Still stuck? Try out one of the “Your Affection” remixes and enjoy the song with another perspective.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

While it’s nice to go through the button mashing motions and listen to the songs, you want to win and figure out the mysteries behind the game too, so do your best to get those combos! And don’t let those dancing geniuses on screen distract you — focus on the circles and press those buttons to the beat. You’ll want to look out for the Scratches: these blue circles! We notice that a lot of people tend to ignore them! Don’t, because even though missing them doesn’t count against you, those can really save a performance!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

And no ATLUS release is complete without some FreeLC! Let’s start with the first DLC you NEED to download. Why? Because it’s only FREE for a limited time.

Summer may almost be over, but it’s never too late to get some free swimsuits! The Girls’ Swimsuit Set is available for FREE for a week. Better get on it–the end of summer is fast approaching.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

Speaking of free DLC, we have some ready and coming up in the following weeks for you to download and enrich your Persona 4: Dancing All Night experience! (Think of it like getting guacamole at Chipotle; it’s not necessary, but tastes OH SO GOOD!)

This week on the FreeLC list:

  • You can jam with the musical track “Shadow World (DE DE MOUSE shadow swing mix)”.
  • Didn’t get to attend Persona events in Japan? There’s no way to travel back in time and go to the concerts, but “Reach Out To The Truth (PERSONA MUSIC FES 2013)” will be available for free, so close your eyes and use your imagination.
  • First introduced in Persona 4 Arena, this General Teddie Costume is a must-have for all Teddie fans! Look how adorable he is!

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

And here’s a sneak peek at next week’s FreeLC:

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

Doesn’t he look warm, yet somehow still really cool?

If you didn’t pre-order your copy, that’s okay. You can still get the cool launch edition! Just get Persona 4: Dancing All Night today on release day! Get the game and make Nanako happy!

Among the Sleep Coming to PS4 on December 10th

Hi, everyone! My name is Kristina and I work at Krillbite Studio. We’re a small game developer from Norway. We are so happy to announce that Among the Sleep is coming to PS4 on December 10th!

We have received a lot of attention for the story in our game. Among the Sleep is a psychological horror game where you play as a two year old child. You get to experience the world through the eyes of a toddler with a vivid imagination that could easily scare your pants off. We wanted to create an atmospheric horror game with an eerie feeling of helplessness.

Among the Sleep

We are bringing Among the Sleep from PC to PS4 and it’s taken a while. Wonder why? It was a lot of technical work.

The process required a conversion of our game engine, Unity. This project has been moved from Unity 3.0, to 3.5 and so forth all the way up to the most recent version 5.2. We wanted the game to look the best and work perfectly with PS4. We had to redo the lightmapped levels and we had to rebake everything, which is fancy developer speak for fixing lights and putting it all together.

Another time-consuming issue with conversion was related to the physics engine used in the game. Unity uses Nvidia PhysX which has been completely redone in the newer versions of Unity. We encountered a lot of weird and funny bugs because of this. We saw chairs floating and doing 360s as you grabbed them, and apples flying hundreds of kilometres an hour. Among the Sleep was actually quite fun with fruit flying around randomly, but it sort of broke the atmosphere so we made the apples go back to their fruitbowl.

Among the SleepAmong the Sleep

One of the coolest things in the PlayStation version of the game is the full audio-visual upgrade — Among the Sleep now has even better graphics and an even better sound experience. We think frame rate is an essential part of a good game experience and have worked hard to get the game to run at a proper 60 frames per second. This was probably the biggest part of the upgrade and it makes for a super smooth experience and does a lot for immersion!

We are a young studio and we started making this game in school. We made a lot of strange stuff and code at the beginning of the project that has been coming back to bite us in our behinds during the development process! But we have also learned so much that will help us make our next experience much smoother!

We are so proud of the PS4 version of the game and can’t wait for you to get your hands on it! You guys will be one of the first to be able to experience the commentary edition! The PC community have given us so much love for this horror game and we hope you will enjoy this even more polished version of the game this holiday!

Hi everyone! When we announced Hardware: Rivals recently, we mentioned that we were going to be running a Beta in the near future. Well, I’m pleased to announce that the Hardware: Rivals Beta will be launching exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers worldwide on September 30th.

In case you missed our previous post, Hardware: Rivals is an arcade-style, vehicle combat game where you can get behind the wheel of a Tank or Fast Attack Vehicle, load up with devastating weapons, and hunt down and destroy your opponents. Check out the trailer to get an idea of what you can expect in the Beta.

Anyone with an active PlayStation Plus subscription is eligible to take part, and you can download the game from the Plus section of PlayStation Store.

During the Beta we’ll be letting in batches of players on a first-come-first-served basis. When you launch the game, you’ll automatically be granted a Beta key if one is available, and can start playing right away.

If all of the keys in the current batch have been taken, you’ll have to wait until a new batch is released. Don’t worry though, we’ll be releasing new keys regularly throughout the Beta, so keep an eye on the Official Forums for updates.

Hardware: RivalsHardware: Rivals

Everyone who gets a beta key in-game will also able to invite a friend to join them, so think carefully about who you want backing you up!

Finally, anyone who participated in our Closed Beta already has a beta key waiting for them as a little thank you, so come and check out what’s new.

The game is still deep in development so your participation and feedback is incredibly important to us. We have a dedicated Beta forum where you can learn more about the game, leave feedback, and get the latest updates from the dev team. If you have any suggestions, comments or find any issues, then please let us know!

PS4 System Software Update 3.00 Out 9/30, Take a Visual Tour

The 3.00 system software update on PS4, codename: Kenshin, will be available to download starting tomorrow, September 30th. We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that participated in the beta. I want you to all know that we’ve listened. Your feedback made this system software update even better.

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

There are a lot of changes in this update, from entirely new features to UI enhancements. While we detailed its key features earlier this month, we wanted to give a visual tour of our favorite new additions. This update is focused on creating new ways to connect with friends and players around the world, expanding the social capabilities of the system even further.

Sharing video clips to Twitter: Now it’s easy to share video clips to Twitter directly from your PS4. You’ll see a new icon on the Upload Video Clip menu, nestled between Facebook and YouTube. Maximum video length is 10 seconds, though you’ll have the ability to trim longer clips. Don’t forget — you can double tap the Share button to start recording a video, and press it again to stop.

PlayStation Plus: We’ve made a dedicated section for PlayStation Plus, which you can access by clicking the big Plus icon on the top right corner of your PS4 home screen. Once there you can easily manage your membership, see the monthly free games to download, deals for PS Plus members, and all of the games you’ve redeemed through PS Plus on PS4.

YouTube live: You’ll see a new icon for YouTube on the Broadcast Gameplay Screen, accessible after hitting the Share button. Now you can live stream directly from your PS4 to YouTube. Livestreams will be viewable across YouTube.

PNG Screenshots: If you’d like your game screenshots to be in a higher quality format, you can now select PNG instead of JPEG. To access, press Share > Share Settings > Screenshot Settings > Image Format.

Events: A new hub for Events has been added to PS4, accessible from the home screen. This will give you an overview of activities taking place in the games you play most, as well as official broadcasts. For instance, here’s an in-game racing event taking place in Project Cars, which you can register for directly from the Events hub.

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

Improvements to Messages and Favorite Groups: We’ve improved Messages by making it easier to access groups of people you chat and play games with frequently. Once you’re added to or create a group, you’ll see the online status for friends, what games they are playing, and the option to message or chat in party all in one spot. When you add or create a new favorite group, they’ll appear in your Friends app under Favorite Groups for quick access. For example, you can see we have favorite groups for Call of Duty, Rocket League, and Destiny.

Communities: PS4 users will have the ability to create communities based around shared interests, like games, genres, and more. Communities include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players, and the ability to join parties / games.

Stickers: From the PS4 system’s Messages app, you’ll see a new option for Stickers. The 3.00 update will contain stickers themed around Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Knack, LittleBigPlanet 3, Resogun, and more. Instead of typing out a message, just send a sticker — like Drake looking at a watch, asking you to wait a minute.”

PS4 System Software Update 3.0

We’re constantly striving to make PS4 even better, and appreciate all the feedback! If you would like to submit an idea on how to improve the PlayStation experience, share it here. We will continue to make PS4 the best place to play.

We hope you enjoy the Kenshin update, and let us know what you think in the comments below!
